Prospects for the development and strengthening of the SCO were discussed at the Second Eurasian Integration Forum

Перспективы развития и укрепления ШОС обсудили на Втором форуме евразийской интеграции

17-18 April 2018 The Second Sochi Forum of Eurasian Integration was held. General director of the IRIAS A.Ageev made a report “Strategic risks of digital transformation”. In particular, some results of the report “To the figure ready? Assessment of the adaptability of Russia’s high-tech complex to the realities of the digital economy” were presented.

More than 200 representatives of 17 member countries and observers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) attended the event. The main theme was the prospects for the development and strengthening of the SCO.

Now there are 8 countries in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Last year, India and Pakistan took part for the first time as full members of the organization. In addition, Iran and Afghanistan want to move from observer status to the status of permanent members. Representatives of these countries confirmed their intentions at the forum in Sochi.

Let’s remind that for the first time Russian and foreign experts gathered in Sochi in 2016 to discuss the role of civil society and people’s diplomacy in the development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Two years later, changes took place both in the world and inside the SCO itself.
